Sloane Milstein
I am Sloane Milstein and my journey as a photographer began like many with a family member, a manual camera, and a class. In the early stages of my photographic journey I was also also a high school and college coach so I focused on capturing the spirit and energy of competitive teams. After spending three decades in the equestrian industry as a coach and official, I decided to explore new horizons. Photography has been more than just a hobby for me; it has provided a creative outlet for self-expression, and now a unique journey. In 2014 I moved to College Station to work at Texas A&M and was quickly introduced to Parson’s Mounted Cavalry. While volunteering for game day operations I documented the Cadets and the “Senior Boots “Collection emerged. More recently, I took a leap of faith and moved to Grand Junction to join the Sport Management program at Colorado Mesa University. Outside of my academic life, I am always on the lookout for opportunities to make a positive impact on my community. I firmly believe in engaging in projects that connect to my passions, values, and lifestyle. This led me to volunteer for both the Friends of the Mustangs and Piceance Mustangs groups from 2019 to 2022. . Through these organizations, I contributed to the well-being of the mustang herds and their natural habitats. Their grace, strength, and wild spirit have become a source of inspiration for my work, and from those experiences the “Descendants” Collection Emerged. The reminder of my collections focus on my other passions surfing and rock climbing and life on the Western Slope of Colorado. I hope you enjoy my art as much as I have enjoyed creating it! - Sloane
