Mark Herron
Mark Herron is an award winning photographer and copywriter with more than 40 years experience in the equine magazine business. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 1979 with a degree in Agricultural Communications, Mark served as editor of the American Red Angus magazine, then worked for Quarter Horse TRACK Magazine for 15 years as associate editor, writer, photographer and ad salesman. He spent five years with Magnolia Media as ad sales director for several national magazines, but returned to the equine world to be the advertising sales director for Quarter Horse News, owned by Morris Communications. When Morris purchased Western Horseman magazine two years later, Herron was immediately moved to an account executive position where he spent eight years servicing advertisers like Justin Boots. After 10 years with Morris Communications publications, Herron took over the position of advertising director for the National Cutting Horse Association for the next five years. Herron's old boss at TRACK Magazine persuaded him to return to that publication in 2013 and he's been there since then. He's worked at TRACK Magazine for a total of 25 years and has enjoyed photographing many of the most famous racing Quarter Horses and stallions in the breed.
