Claire Porter
CLAIRE PORTER LIVES IN THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY, SOUTH WEST OF AUSTIN. AT THE YOUNG AGE OF 10, CLAIRE FELL IN LOVE WITH HORSES, AND SPENT TIME SHOWING HUNTERS AND JUMPERS IN THE WESTERN REGION THROUGHOUT HIGH SCHOOL. AFTER COLLEGE SHE SHOWED AS AN AMATURE OWNER AS WELL AS TRAINED SOME YOUNG HORSES THAT WENT ON TO HAVE GREAT SUCCESS ON THE EAST COAST "A" SHOW CIRCUIT. SHE RECEIVED A BFA FROM SOUTHERN METHODIST UNIVERSITY FOCUSING ON PHOTOGRAPHY, PAINTING AND ETCHING. OVER THE YEARS, SHE USUALLY HAD HER CAMERA IN HAND; BUT NOT UNTIL A FEW YEARS AGO DID SHE DECIDE TO TRAVEL ON A PHOTO SAFARI TO SHOOT HORSES AND COWBOY IMAGERY. AS A RESULT OF THAT INSPIRATIONAL EXPERIENCE CLAIRE’S TWO WORLDS JOINED TOGETHER. MS. PORTER IS PASSIONATE ABOUT CREATING POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHS. HER FINE ART IMAGES EVOKE THE ELEGANCE, STRENGTH AND GRACE OF THE MAJESTIC EQUUS. DURING HER PROCESS OF SELECTING AND DEVELOPING AN IMAGE, SHE SEEKS INTERESTING COMPOSITIONS THAT CREATE TENSIONS OR POSSESS A SERENE SENSE OF SIMPLICITY THROUGH DRAMATIC LIGHT. SHE ENHANCES THE STRENGTHS IN HER ORIGINAL IMAGES AND BEAUTIFIES THEM WITH GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL: INVITING YOU TO BE WITHIN THE SCENE AND EMOTIONALLY TOUCHED BY HER ART. IN THE EXCITEMENT OF THE THRILLING MOMENT CAPTURED, SHE STRIVES TO TOUCH YOUR HEART AND REACH YOUR SOUL WITH HER BREATHTAKING IMAGES. HER IMAGE “ALL WINTER LONG” WAS A FINALIST IN THE 2018 COWBOYS AND INDIANS MAGAZIINE PHOTOOGRAPHY CONTEST AND SHOWN IN THE 2018 FEBRUARY/MARCH ISSUE. AS OF SEPTEMBER 2017, CLAIRE’S WORK CAN BE SEEN AT THE MESH AT GALLERY IN KETCHUM, IDAHO. SINCE FEBRUARY 1, 2017 HER WORK HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY AT THE ART ON 12 GALLERY IN WIMBERLEY, TEXAS, AUSTIN ART & FRAME GALLERY IN AUSTIN, TEXAS AND HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY AT THE ALICE RICE GALLERY IN LAGUNA BEACH, CALIFORNIA.
