Enjoy two full days of exclusive and intensive photographic access to the Sombrero Ranch with herds of horses, pole corrals, water and dust and much more with a great group of real life cowboys and cowgirls. A classroom session on Photoshop workflow and technique instruction follows, then three more days photographing the Great American Horse Drive. There is no other place or event like it on earth!

Photograph the Faces of the American West: Cowboys and Native Americans
Santa Fe, New Mexico, May 6 -10, 2019

In this boutique workshop in Santa Fe you will photograph Native Americans dressed in authentic regalia and working cowboys in dusters and chaps, all chosen to allow participants the opportunity to capture emotionally powerful and artistic photographs. These portrait subjects, photographed in inspiring locations, bring the days of the old west to life.  Located on the historic Santa Fe Trail that bears its name, Santa Fe, New Mexico, home of Eloquent Light, is a 400-year old city filled with history and fascinating cultures. In the old days the trail brought together the Native American, Spanish and Euro-American pioneers who often lived in harmony and sometimes in conflict at this place where new ideas at times collided with ancient beliefs.

In Faces of the American West: Portraits of the Cowboy and the Native American you will learn lighting and camera techniques along with model direction and composition under the tutelage of award-winning photographer Craig Varjabedian.
Photography Workshop and Ranch Retreat

Laura Cowen is an experienced and well-known wildlife and horse show photographer from Colorado. Sharing her wonderful eye, Laura will lead a very intimate group of photographers in a true working ranch setting. 

The Perry Ranch in Leoti, KS is a 3rd/4th generation cattle ranch and AQHA breeding operation set on 6500 private acres in Western Kansas. This unique setting offers 3 days photographing cows with their calves, mares with their foals, a reining clinic, sunsets, and so much more!

Montana Adventure Photography Tour and Workshop
Crazy Mountains, Montana, June 2nd – 8th, 2019
 
Experience the Magic of the Crazy Mountains. Join landscape, nature and adventure Photographer Jake Kielbus for 6 epic days and nights of exclusive photography education, inspiration, and practice in the spectacular mountains of Montana. Our destination is the historic Sweet Grass Ranch , nestled in one of the most scenic settings in all of Montana. It’s truly a photographers dream - a landscape of paradise. Sweet Grass Ranch is a magical destination: a place where wild horses run free, open space becomes contagious, and your life will be forever changed. 

Jake will be instructing and leading 10 participants through the Crazy Mountains during the first week of June - when the mountains are abundant with exuberant energy, the landscape illuminates its brilliant colors, and the stars are shining the brightest. Your level of photography experience is second to your desire for learning and practicing your own unique art. Jake’s main objective is to provide ample shooting opportunities to photograph sensational sunrise and sunset rides, atmospheric landscapes, candid wildlife, and the Milky Way. 

Jake takes great care in selecting the best lighting and locations from his experience photographing this stunning area for the past 8 summers. Days will sometimes start early and end late, but there will be plenty of time to explore on your own, relax and appreciate one of the most magnificent places you have ever stepped foot in.
Personal Vision & Photography Workshop at the historical Focus Ranch
Colorado/Wyoming border, June 23 - 29, 2019

This summer's workshop is again at the fabulous Focus Ranch on the Colorado/Wyoming border about 50 miles northwest of Steamboat Springs. A real working cattle ranch, located inf the Northern Rocky Mountains, nestled in the Upper Little Snake River Valley, surrounded by the peaks of the Sierra Madre Mountain range. 

This spectacular ranch location lends itself perfectly to the “focus” of our workshop, which is to become more aware of your unique way of seeing the world and yourself. You will receive both group and individual instruction in the field and the classroom. Additionally, Karen will suggest specific visual exercises that will challenge you to try new and fun techniques with your camera that will enrich your creative spirit.
Mongolia: The Experience of a Lifetime
Mongolia, July 29 – August 9, 2019

Join award-winning international photographer Scott Trees for 12 days/11 nights on a scenic journey and personal experience through Mongolia. Explore the Khustaiin Nuruu Strictly Protected Area which was established to reintroduce the last survivors of the almost extinct Przewalski’s horses back to their natural environment. View natural wonders in the Gobi Desert’s Three Beauties Nature Reserve, sand dunes, spectacular clear night views without any light pollution, the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Flaming Cliffs of red sandstone. Attend the Annual Horse Festival and the “Journey of the 99 Little Heroes” Festival dedicated to Mongolian culture through the eyes of children. Spend an entire day with a nomadic family to gain insight into their daily lives and ancient traditions. Experience their unique lifestyle, nearly unchanged for hundreds of years.
Experience the Diversity of Indian Culture: Marwari Horses and Pushkar Camel Fair
India, October 31 – November 14, 2019

Spend 14 days and nights immersed in the Indian cultures of Rajasthan, with award-winning international photographer Scott Trees as he leads participants through a visually stunning journey. Photography experiences will include: Marwari horses; the Annual Pushkar Camel Fair & Carnival featuring 50K+ camels as well as other entertainers; the culture and trades of locals; historic architecture including forts, palatial mansions, and courtyards; and the beautiful natural Indian landscape.

Throughout each location participants can take advantage of Trees' vast photographic experience as he makes suggestions relating to lens choice, lighting, and a variety of other photographic considerations in an effort to help participants return with stunning personal images from their experiences.
Wild Horse Photography Workshops
New Mexico, Your custom dates

Join Steve Simmons in the beauty of New Mexico to explore its unique landscape in search of the wild and free horses of the West. Simmons has been photographing these magnificent creatures for 10 years and understands how to track, approach and photograph them as only a true horseman can. Simmons has studied herd behavior and understands their movements, patterns, and can frequently predict their activities and control these movements for long periods of time to create wonderful photographic opportunities
Tours can be done from horseback for advanced riders with experience outside of the arena, or by vehicle and hiking trips if the horseback adventure is not your cup of tea. These workshops are custom adventures for 1 - 4 people and can be arranged for the convenience of the participant. It is recommended that each workshop last a minimum of 2 days and can last up to 5 days.
