December, 2016 EPNet Newsletter
2016 was a busy year for us, beginning with a meet up in Lexington, Kentucky, followed by the tenth annual Colorado Cowboys and Great American Horse Drive, our Powderhorn Women's Retreat at the spectacular Powderhorn Ranch in Wyoming in July and finally our annual meet up in Chincoteague in November.
Workshops are a great way to photograph new and interesting subjects and locations, make new connections and friendships and recharge your creative batteries. For 2017 we are planning a spring meet up (details available soon!), our Colorado and Wyoming events are filling quickly and our members are also planning exciting trips. Ryan Courson will be leading a tour to India, Shawn Hamilton to Cuba, Phyllis Burchett to Icleand and Debra Garside to Mongolia!
If you are dreaming of attending a workshop or tour this year check out our listings of events and bookmark our EPNet events page.

Supporting Rescue: In January EPNet will be giving back to the horses by featuring one rescue a week on our Daily Horse Shots Facebook Page. These rescues have been nominated by our members and we will be requesting free will donations from our page members (almost 8,000 strong!). Small donations add up to make a big difference. Thank you for helping us give back to the horses, and join us on Daily Horse Shots!
Does your rescue need good horse photos? EPNet maintains a list of member volunteers available to donate their services to rescue groups and horses in need. If your rescue is in need of good images please make contact with one of our volunteer photographers!

What are our members up to?
From Kendra Marvin of Boots and Bling Photography:
The community of the photography world has been beyond helpful and welcoming to me over the past few years. The process of creating can be fun and overwhelming at the same time. I've been working on a few basic tools to help other photographers (hobbyist or pro) deal with their current struggles in learning.
These tips can be useful for anyone from moms who want to capture memories of their lives and children all the way to professional photographers. Horses are often a focus in my pictures and business, so stay tuned for more tools coming tailored to equestrian photography.
Bev Pettit reports that her work is hanging in the lobby of the Luxury Canyon Suites and in the Casitas at the Phoenician Hotel in Scottsdale. Bev is also featured in the January issue of Horse Illustrated article "Horse Scapes."
Congratulations to members Kim Wilhite (photo above left), Debra Garside, Barb Young, Bev Pettit, Joan Davis, Phyllis Burchett, Sue Ratcliffe, Sharon Packer, Sarah Corbin and Colleen Sternberger on their placings in the 11th Annual Black & White Spider Awards.
Courtney Bailey shares that some of her images are hanging at the University of Tennessee's large animal hospital waiting room.
Bianca McCarty's work was featured in a photo essay about the National Horse Fair in Golegã, Portugal in Untacked.
Member Ryan Courson was recently featured in the popular Phoblographer Blog.
