Real Wild Horses in New Mexico

If you'd like to go on an adventure tracking and photographing real wild horses this is your chance. These horses are not rescues lounging in a sanctuary, or randomly collected horses in a pasture. These are real wild horses out on 5,000+ acres of land. They will have to be tracked, scouted and approached from a distance to be photographed. As we watch the horses we will discuss herd dynamics, photographic techniques and equipment, lighting, herd size techniques, and the current wild horse situation in the United States.

Your guide, Steve Simmons, has studied how to approach these horses from horseback, by vehicle, and on foot. He knows how to approach them so as to keep them quiet and calm, yet be able to study and photograph their herd dynamics. Steve has also written articles about tracking and photographing wild horses from horseback. If you would like a copy of this article send an e-mail to riosandiamorgans@aol.com.

If you are an advanced horseman it is possible to do this tour on horseback. If not, we will go out by vehicle and walking. These are all custom trips, arranged at your convenience. They can be 1, 2 or 3 day adventures. Call 505-301-0917 or email riosandiamorgans@aol.com and visit our Facebook page.
